Meet the greatest British feline in the Cabinet Office!

This lesson introduces students to Larry, the British Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office. After a short warm-up about working animals, the students read and learn about Larry and improve their paraphrasing skills at upper-intermediate level (e.g. to greet, to take a nap, to endure). In the listening part, they discuss the attitude of journalists towards Larry and and the effect of the cat on the British nation. Moreover, the students can learn common phrases used by journalists (to photobomb, to break the ice, rags-to-riches) and discuss their own examples of different stories.
